Bitemarks
and bite injuries
We have a great deal of expertise in bitemark analysis and court
presentation. With over 20 peer reviewed
publications and 3 book chapters published by our odontologists
we are recognised international experts. We provide services to
national police forces and
defence solicitors.
Identification
We conduct identifications for
H.M. Coroner's across the North West. We can provide an
odontologist anywhere within the North of England
and Scottish Borders. We adhere to
strict guidelines for identifications and follow the BAFO fee guide for
fair and transparent pricing.
DNA
We can extract DNA from teeth
and other hard tissues for identification and sex determination.
We can analyse DNA from saliva deposited
during the biting process.
We can also arrange for sibling and paternity tests from such DNA to
assist in human identification.
Case Reviews
We can review any bitemark
analysis report and prepare a defence statement. We can
assess the quality and accuracy of the analysis techniques.
We can provide the CPS with an assessment of the
forensic significance of bite injuries.
Dental ageing
We can provide accurate estimates of age at death
using a number of well established techniques.
We can also provide postmortem profiles on
dental remains for which no antemortem records can be found.
